Aladdin
Type – Previs, Techvis
Director – Guy Ritchie
Studio – Walt Disney Pictures
Location – London
We've worked on a lot of iconic films, but the opportunity to work on “Aladdin” was a dream come true for our team. The flying carpet… the Genie… A Whole New World… Friend Like Me! These are some of the most recognizable characters in some of the most talked about sequences in Disney history. Intimidating? Yes! Exciting? Absolutely!!
Proof pulled out all the stops for this one. To put that ol’ Carpet through its paces we employed sophisticated Previs techniques, some very delicate shot design and innovative Techvis to drive a motion-controlled carpet rig. Friend Like Me needed to feel like a live stage show set inside a cave of wonders. From the opening jazz club to the grand finale, it required meticulous camera work and choreography to flow continuously as we follow Genie on a journey through a series of magical sets. Throughout the project Proof worked closely with VFX Supervisor Chas Jarrett and the entire Art Department, but we need to give a special shout out to choreographer Jamal Sims whose vision really made this sequence pop.
